29 Weeks

This past month has been pretty amazing. I am falling more and more in love with my little girl. Vivian's nursery is almost complete--her furniture is all set up and the only thing left to do is put up a few picture frames. Thanks to my wonderful father-in-law, putting together the crib was so much easier than expected. He definitely was a professional ;)

Today was the day Michael and I had been waiting for...our 3D/4D Ultrasound. It was pretty amazing...the guy that did our ultrasound said Vivi was a very good sport. He claims most babies only get maybe 30-40 good pictures due to either being too sleepy or hiding. Our little girl got 97 photos taken of her because she was so cooperative. Our little model. :) The pictures turned out great! We have some of her smiling, sucking her thumb, making a sad face, and even one of her saying "I love you" in sign language...I was pretty proud! Michael enjoyed the day as well--I think it is great for Dads to be able to see more in detail what their baby looks like in order to bond more...Moms have it easier since we carrying the baby for 40 weeks, but all Dads can see is a baby bump. So, needless to say, it was a very good day and I am SO glad we did it.

I definitely recommend Focused Imaging in Nashville. We got the most expensive package and yet it was only around $165.00...this included 2 DVD's with 30 minutes of video with Vivi moving around and a CD of excellent pictures. They even gave us two bags full of formula and breast-feeding supplies. I don't regret this experience one bit! Seeing my little girl more in detail today was a bitter-sweet feeling. I just wanted to hold her in my arms...but I know I will have to wait just a little longer. :)

Another great experience this month was the start of our childbirth classes. It's been a great experience...Alpha Childbirth classes are all over Nashville and they give very honest information about childbirth and the class material is faith based. I am very glad that our instructor implements bible verses, prayer, and spiritual encouragement into what we are learning. Although I have learned a lot by working at Baptist, this class has helped me see a different side of what labor can be like...and that having a natural birth IS possible. Although I have never been one to say "I'm going natural...", I am definitely more aware of what I can do if I want the least amount of medical interventions as possible. I have made a decision to at least TRY labor from the beginning without pain medication. However, I am very much at peace with whatever ends up happening...if I end up getting an epidural, I will NOT beat myself up about it. I know the Lord will be with me through it all and He has a plan!

I CANNOT WAIT for my two baby showers coming up in the month of June! June 9th and June 23rd cannot come fast enough! :)

Here are some of Vivi's 3D/4D Ultrasound Pictures...

Things I've Been Experiencing This Month:
  • Vivian is not only kicking...she is doing somersaults in my belly. It is really neat to feel her move from one side of my belly to the other side
  • I still do not experience cravings...Michael is bummed. He really is expecting me to one night yell out "GET MY CHINESE...NOW!" (I hate Chinese food, so I doubt this will be happening)
  • We got to have a 3D/4D Ultrasound!!!
  • Child Birth Classes started (one more week to go...)
  • The nursery is almost complete...just gotta get a few things hung on the wall. Her furniture is gorgeous!!! Will post pictures when I am completely done!
Facts About Baby at Week 29
  • At 29 weeks pregnant, your baby's head is in proportion with body now. She appears more like a newborn each and every day!
  • Fat continues to accumulate under the skin -- only now preparing for entering the *real world*.
  • Your baby's brain can control primitive breathing and body temperatures.
  • Her eyes can move in their sockets at week 29 of your pregnancy. Soon she will be able to follow a blinking light.
  • Your baby is increasingly sensitive to changes in light, sound, taste, and smell! Various studies show that your baby may indicate preferences (or disdain) for particular tastes or odors at this stage
  • She is also moving from side to side, but probably still is head up. In the next few weeks, she will move to the head down birthing position. At times you may feel as if she is performing somersaults for a circus act!
  • After 29 weeks of pregnancy, her length is now approximately 15.2 inches (38.6cm) and weight is 2.54 pounds (1153gm)
